MIDI2600: Atari 2600A Installation

Overview

These instructions apply to the Atari VCS-CX2600A "Four Switch" console.

MIDI2600-Internal installation will not interfere with the use of regular joysticks & keypads, but will prevent the use of paddle controllers. Console circuit board layout may vary.

Board Layout

The console's main circuit board is shown at right. Note the locations of the console's audio signal, controller, and Select & Reset inputs.

Left & Right Controller

MIDI2600-Internal only: Connect each pin, 1 thru 9, of the MIDI2600 controller outputs to the corresponding pin on the console.

Audio Output

Optional: Audio can be extracted from the console without the use of a television receiver. Wire an audio connector (not included) to the console's circuit board as shown. Exact location of audio signal may vary by circuit board revision. Connect the sleeve of the connector to console ground.

Select & Reset

Optional: Connect the MIDI2600 Select & Reset outputs to the corresponding console switches as shown.

Indicator LEDs

MIDI2600-Internal only: Use the included LED bezels to mount the MIDI2600 indicator LEDs on the console's case. Each bezel requires a 6mm (1/4") hole.

MIDI Jack

MIDI2600-Internal only: Attach pins 4 & 5 of the MIDI Jack to the corresponding inputs on the MIDI2600. The MIDI jack requires mounting holes as shown.
